Hello! My name is Yueshui Helen Zhang (张乐水). I’m 9 years old, and I love going to summer camp because in all the camps I have been to, I learned somethings you can’t learn anywhere, and had lots and lots of fun. Now I will tell you about a few of the best summer camps I went to...
DetailsIf I were asked what my most memorable summer experience is, my reply would be attending Camp Watonka. I attended Camp Watonka in 2014, the summer before I entered eighth grade. To briefly explain, Camp Watonka is a boys-only (age 8-16), two-week sleepaway camp that provides classes that covers the whole spectrum of science, from Physics to Biology to Robotics.
DetailsIn July 2016, my younger brother Brian and I went to a STEAM camp in Shenzhen. It was my first camp in China. The camp taught us S.T.E.A.M. stuff, program with Scratch, make Google Glasses, engineering design, art design using a yogurt cup, and more. The camp was held in a beautiful castle-like hotel. There were about 24 kids and 8 teachers. We lived with the teachers in the hotel for 6 days. We also had to take care of ourselves. Each hotel room has two students. Guess who I ended up being roommate with? My brother Brian.
DetailsThere are a million different camps all around the world-so why Bold Earth? Well, not only did Bold Earth bring new opportunities to try new things and meet new friends, they also taught me responsibility in a safe and friendly environment. Simple things such as cooking for the group, setting up and taking down the tents, cleaning out the van that we use to get to and from places, and keeping track of your belongings can really impact the way you think about living by yourself. I had the best group one could hope for, with understanding counselors and welcoming peers. Now, whenever I think back to those two weeks of pure fun, I smile and laugh, reminded of the hair-raising adventures and moments I had.
DetailsI think that SIG was a fun place to be in for a summer vacation. There were many different courses you could take, fun Saturday trips around the area, and so many people to collaborate and play with! I really enjoyed my time there because I met new people and got to gather information about things that I never learned before.
