Grades 1 – 4: Body Paragraphs

Students will write organized, structured, detailed, and most of all interesting paragraphs using writing prompts used in previous years for Fourth Grade Admission to some of the best private schools on Oʻahu. We will also stress the importance of writing organized paragraphs in school assignments so that students recognize that “Naʻau” writing, admissions writing, and school writing are all the same—exemplary written responses.

Grades 5 – 8: SSAT Creative Essay/Expository Essay/Interview Essay Prep

Students will learn to write the NEW SSAT Creative Essay which gives the students a single sentence prompt like “The room was empty” and asks them to write a two page writing sample. The Naʻau way gives students a creative format and confidence while encouraging the use of voice in their pieces. Students will also learn to write the Interview Essay that is administered at the time of their private school admission interviews. This is an entirely different kind of essay that your child will master to “stand out” in the applicant pool with creativity, structure, and voice.
