Founded in 1935, the Northwestern Summer Camp is located on the western end of John Island in the north of Seattle, about 30 minutes' drive from Seattle. The 135-acre site includes more than 3 kilometers of coastline, wetlands, meadows, and ever-changing forests. The camp's character is to promote simple living outdoors and learn how to rely less on technology to live with more primitive solutions. The camp offers classic summer activities such as arts and crafts, theater, archery and ropes, but also activities like sailing, kayaking, hiking and overnight camping.
