Young Writer's Introduction:
I am Andrew Cheng. I am 10 years old and a 4th grader going to school in New Jersey of the United States. I like to cube. I have a YouTube channel named AC Cuber. My goal is to reach 1000 subscribers in 2 years. I also like to play Ping Pong and Soccer. In summer time, I like to visit my grandparents in China.

The Vogelsinger Soccer Camp (http://www.ussportscamps.com/soccer/vogelsinger/) has a long history of over 50 years. They have various locations in the United States including New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California. Camp is week by week including the weekend. If you are serious about soccer and want to improve your soccer skills, you can choose to attend 2 to 3 weeks of camp. They even offer an International Camp, where international students can get trained in English before they start to get trained in soccer.

Vogelsinger Camp in Lawrenceville, NJ

I attended the Vogelsinger Camp hosted by Lawrenceville School in New Jersey in 2015. It was only 15 minutes away from my home. 2015 was the 50th anniversary of Vogelsinger Soccer Camp. For me, it was an unusual soccer camp. This camp is mainly for serious soccer players and not random people who play soccer for fun, because this camp gives very hard training, and it was a little bit challenging for me. Vogelsinger has both day camps and residential camps. For a residential camper, the camp is your home. There are dorms to live in overnight on the beautiful campus of Lawrenceville School for either one week or two weeks depending on how long you signed up for. Because I live nearby, I did not get to live in campus, but I wish I did. It would have been much more fun.

Lawrenceville School is one of the best boarding schools in the world. The campus is very beautiful. To the left is their Edith Memorial Chapel. To the right is the first day when we were waiting in line to get assigned to a dorm.

Daily Routine

In the morning beginning from around 8:30 am, we do about 2.5 hours of training, working on control of the ball. Then we do dribbling, shooting, defense and speed. Afterwards, we go back to our dorms to rest for about 30 minutes. Then we are called for lunch in the dining hall of Lawrenceville School. I like the food there a lot. When we finish lunch, we would go back to our dorm, resting, playing or watching TV. There is also a gift shop at the diner. We rest for about one hour, then we start training again. In the afternoon, we train for another 2.5 hours doing just about the same thing in the morning, then go back to our dorms. In the evening, you would have about 1.5 hours of scrimmage if you stay for extended hour. Since I was a day camper, I would be picked up at 4:00 pm and go home, so I don’t know what happens next. Nevertheless, every day I learned a lot and made progress.

Coaches

The coaches are great. They are very nice but also very strict in teaching. They teach us step-by-step the techniques in controlling, dribbling, passing the ball and many more. They come from all over the world, but most of they have lived in the United States for a long time. In my camp, I had coaches from England, Netherland, Italy, Uruguay and Denmark.

Last Day of Camp

In the last day, after we finished the regular training, we had a soccer game. The parents came in to watch us playing. In the end, the head coach gave every camper an evaluation sheet, telling everyone in detail what area has greatly improved and what area needs more work.

This is the last day of camp, when I was playing in the game.

Overall, I think Vogelsinger camp is a great camp. I like the food, I like training on the field, and more. I would give this camp a 5/5 stars. It is a camp for me, as well as people who want to be soccer players. I really, really liked this camp. I highly recommend it.
